1987 Essay Exam

     Easy or Not
George Eliot uses visual words to show readers the chang of what leisure has become in her view "Old Leisure." She began her work by telling you that everything is being rushed, her society is getting lazy and she doesn't like it  and make there lives easier not knowing that you can actually enjoy your life with the job that you have.

Her point of everything being rushed was that the people are wanting everything to be done and they wont have to do anything. People didnt relize that working can make you do your daily work-out. In other words the people want to invent things for the work can be easy. For example, people that in her time dont want to do much they just wanted an easy life for they can be happy. The people want thing to be invented quick.

People may love what they do... For example, she says something about a man that wakes up in the morning and wanting to go to work because he like the smell of apricots in the morning. "He takes pleasure in the thing around him instead of wanting more or something better. He is never rushing himself because he loves what he does for living. He is taking his life very slow.

The society is getting very lazy they don't want to do much cause they are not willing to give the effort to try things without getting help. She dislikes that everyone is not willing to do their part in the community or in there lives. They just want the easy way out and not all the time the easy way out is a good thing cause it doesn't work. Her society sees everything being done for them for they don't have to do much.

As a result she dislike and thinks it wrong to take the easy way out. It will not give you all the same results then doing it the old fashion way.

MY BIG QUESTION!!!!!!

How is it that other people value there lives (ex..education, family etc...) less then anything that they have now?? Why doesn't it become clear to them that its the only thing they have to stay on earth.

NOTES OF POISONWOOD BIBLE.!!!

THERE IS A FAMILY OF 6. THERE WAS A FATHER THAT WAS A BAPTIST MINISTER, HIS NAME WAS NATHAN PRICE. THEN CAME HIS WIFE. WHICH HER NAME WAS ORLEANNA. SHE IS ALWAYS LISTENING TO HER HUSBAND NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS. THEY HAVE A 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER NAMED RACHEL AND SHE RESENTS HER INSPIRATION FROM A INNOCENT NORMAL TEEN LIFE.THEN ITS HER TWO OTHER SISTERS THAT ARE TWINS AND THEY ARE 14. THEY ARE NAMED LEAN AND ADAH. LEAN ALWAYS SHARES WHAT SHE FEELS AND WHAT SHE THINKS ABOUT HER OR OTHERS RELIGIOUS FAITH. MEANWHILE HER TWIN ADAH IS CRIPPLES AND SHE WAS MUTE BY BIRTH, BUT SHE IS AN AMAZING OBSERVER MERELY VIEWS TO MOVE AS SHE DOES ALL HER LIFE. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THERE WAS RUTH MAY HE IS 5 YEARS OLD AND HE IS MORE EXCITED BUT FRIGHTENED BECAUSE HE DOESN'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON AND BECAUSE HE IS SMALL. NATHAN DRAGGED HIS FAMILY INTO CONGO NOT KNOWING THAT IT WOULD BE BEST IF THEY STAY IN THERE ORIGINAL PLACE THEY ARE AT.  WELL WHEN THEY MOVED TO CONGO THEY PLANTED FOOD BUT LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THAT IT WONT GROW BECAUSE OF THE SOIL. HE HAD TO FIND A WAY TO FEED AND CARE FOR HIS KIDS NO MATTER WHAT. THEY DIDNT HAVE MUCH FAITH BUT IT GREW THOUGH OUT THE STORY. HE WANTED TO BAPTIZE THE VILLAGERS . HE DIDNT WANT TO BACK OFF FROM THAT. IT LOOKS LIKE THE FAMILY IS NOT SUCCEEDING ON THE FOOD AND CARE SO WHILE THE FATHER IS OUT AND THE MOTHER IS LAYING IN BED, THE GIRLS TEND TO GO LOOKING FOR FOOD AND WAYS THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. THE MOTHER WAS DONE WITH EVERYTHING AND SHE TRIED TO CONVINCE NATHAN TO GET THE GIRLS OUT OF AFRICA BUT HE DIDN'T LISTEN SO THE MOTHER ORLEANNA TRIES TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET HER GIRLS OUT OF AFRICA. IN THE END  OF THE NOVEL ORLEANNA REALIZES THAT SHE WAKENED AND RUTH MAY HAD DIED SHE KNEW THAT SHE HAS TO GET HER DAUGHTERS OUT OF THAT PLACE. SHE CAN NEVER FIGIVE HERSELF BECAUSE ONE OF HER DAUGHTERS DIES AND SHE WOULD ASK FOR FORGIVENESS.
